At Banfield, providing quality medicine is a result of three areas of focus:

  • Instrumentation. To stay on the leading edge of veterinary medicine, we make an ongoing investment in the latest technology. Each of our hospitals is equipped with the tools and instrumentation you need to perform quality medicine – including an advanced anesthesia machine exclusively using Sevoflurane, electrocardiogram, pulse oximeter, tonopens, radiology and more. Many of our doctors also choose to equip their hospitals with ultrasound, digital radiography and endoscope.
  • Superior standards. Our Medical Standards board, comprised of practicing doctors elected by their peers, continually investigates and reviews new methodologies with a single goal in mind: to keep Banfield on the forefront of veterinary medicine. The board's guidance in establishing minimum standards helps to ensure that our hospital teams consistently give Pets the same care we want for ourselves.
  • Evidence based medicine. Our centralized medical database is the most comprehensive of its kind. From our nationwide network of hospitals, we’re able to electronically gather and access several million Pet records. This information processing helps to keep our team members informed and up-to-date in the practice of evidence-based medicine. In addition, this technology enables us to conduct quality-assured, cost-effective clinical studies to facilitate the continual improvement of Pet health care.
A highly effective approach to Pet care

During a client's visit to a Banfield hospital, every team member plays a critical role in helping to educate the client. We call this approach our "cycle of service."

Through the cycle of service, and the contributions of each team member, doctors can keep their focus on the five key disciplines of quality medicine: physical exams, diagnosis, treatment, surgery and client communication.
